What to see at Güzelyurt Railway Museum
- The restored goods shed of the Güzelyurt (Morphou) station now houses the museum; the station building and wagon shed still stand too.
- In the landscaped grounds stands steam locomotive No. 3 of the Cyprus Mines Corporation, moved here in 2022 and restored in 2023.
History of Güzelyurt Railway Museum
- 1907
- The Güzelyurt station opens on 31 March; citrus travels 95 km to Gazimağusa, a journey of about four hours.
- 1951
- The Cyprus Government Railway ends its operations.
- 1999
- The station building, wagon shed and goods shed are declared monuments.
- 2022
- The restored goods shed opens as the Railway Museum on 18 May.
Visiting Güzelyurt Railway Museum
Allow about half an hour. The museum is at the old railway station in Güzelyurt town, where the GZ.54 road passes beside it. A car park and the nearest mapped bus stop are each about 50 m away. St Mamas Monastery is within about a kilometre.
